Margaret Graeme Niven was born on the 9th May 1906 to William Niven and Eliza Mary Heffer. Margaret was a half sister to William Edward Graham Niven, the father of
David Niven, the film star." Born in Buckinghamshire, England Margaret Niven was a landscape, portrait and flower painter. She was elected a member of the Royal
Institute of Oil Painters in 1936, on the recommendation of H Davis Richter, and she remained a member, and sat on the council of the Society, for over 60 years.
Her father was William Niven, a well-known-etcher, and she studied under Bernard Adams at Heatherleys School of Fine Art.
She showed her work at the Royal Academy, the RBA, RP, Leicester Galleries and Wildenstein's, and she is represented in a number of English public collections.
